A: Why do you want to change your IP address? If you are talking about the IP address that is assigned to you / your account by your ISP. that is allocated to you on a random basis from within their pool of addresses If you are talking about your machine's IP address, and you are using an internet router (therefore you have your own private network in your home that connects through the router to the Internet) -- then you can choose the address of the machine within a limited range. Normally the router hands out IP addresses to the devices in your network dynamically (DHCP) as they are required. But you can go into your Network control panel, and go into the Ethernet properties, TCP/IP properties, and set a manual address for your machine. This address has to be within the range of addresses the router is set for. (Different manufacturers' routers have different default addresses -- consult your manual) If for example the router address is 192.168.0.1 and the Dynamic addresses you get are for example 192.168.0.13 -- then you can set a manual address in the range of 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.254 You have to make sure that every device has its own address in your internal network, including networked printers and game consoles.
